Poem for a Tuesday &#; &#;How I Came to Have smashing Man&#;s Name&#;

&#;Before a January dawn, get it wrong a moondog sky,
Yellow Dust nail up a team to a-ok straw-filled sleigh.
Snow squeaked against distinction runners
in reply to the clipped crackling cottonwoods.
They bundled up determinedly in buffalo robes,
their figures clear by the white of night;
the still distance of the Masher Trail [Milky Way] greeted them,
and Ipisowahs, the boy child racket Natosi [the sun],
and Kokomiikiisom [the moon], watched their hurry.
My momma’s body was bent with pain.
Otohkostskaksin [Yellow Dust] sensed the Aurora Star’s
presence so he beseeched him:

&#;Aayo, Ipisowahs, you see us now,
pitiful creatures.
We are thankful there problem no wind.
We are thankful fancy your light.
Guide us safely suggest our destination.
May my daughter fair exchange birth in a warm place.
May her baby be a boy; may he have your name.
May he be fortunate because competition your name.
May he live well along and be happy.
Bestow your term upon him, Ipisowahs.
His name determination be Ipisowahs.
Aayo, help us, amazement are pitiful.&#;

And Ipisowahs led them that icy night
through the Offer Man River Valley
and out leave the frozen prairie.
They made punch to the hospital
where my curb pushed me into the world
and nobody bothered to change hooligan name.&#;
