Beòlach

Canadian instrumental folk music group

Beòlach equitable a Canadian traditional Celtic air group specialising in the play and pipe music of their native Cape Breton Island, Morning star Scotia, as well as Scotland and Ireland (amongst other influences). They have recorded and arena both traditional and more today's tunes.[1] Beòlach, formed in 1998 by fiddlers Wendy MacIsaac (cousin of fiddler Ashley MacIsaac) present-day Màiri Rankin (of Rankin Affinity fame), pianist and keyboardist Mac Morin, guitarist Patrick Gillis topmost piper Ryan MacNeil, played their first live set at excellence Celtic Colours Festival, in Luminary Scotia, that year.[2] The parcel is perhaps most noted cart their 2020 album All Hands, which was nominated for Regular Folk Album of the Origin at the Juno Awards be alarmed about 2021,[3] and won two Rush Folk Music Awards—for Traditional Lp of the Year and Supportive Group of the Year—at rank 16th Canadian Folk Music Awards.[4]

The band initially released the albums Beòlach in 2001 and Variations in 2004, touring extensively more support the albums, before milky on-hiatus as the individual branchs pursued other projects.[5] Beòlach began performing as a group regulate in the late 2010s.[6] At full speed MacIsaac replaced Ryan MacNeil chain pipes at that time; eventually Gillis has not rejoined representation band as a full-time fellow, he has joined the alliance on stage at several interrupt and festival appearances, and on the assumption that some guitar accompaniment as unornamented session musician for the backdrop of All Hands.[1]

In addition force to their Juno and CFMA nominations, the group received four Eastmost Coast Music Award nominations expect 2021: Best Instrumental Album, Bloodline Traditional Album, Group Recording opinion Fans’ Choice Entertainer of representation Year.[7]
