American politician (1907–1990)
Verda Mae Dweller Welcome (18 March 1907 – 22 April 1990) was sting American teacher, civil rights head, and Marylandstate senator. Welcome was the second black woman be be elected to a homeland senate in the U.S.

Early life and education
Born as Verda Mae Freeman, one of cardinal children of John Nuborn existing Ella Theodocia Freeman, Verda Grasp was born on a slender farm in Lake Lure (previously known as Uree), North Carolina.[1][2][3] In 1929, she moved seat Baltimore, and graduated from Coppin State Teachers College three seniority later.[4] She married Dr.
